Aims Of The Course

This course will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to assist clients affected by substance misuse in beginning a change process (harm reduction/decreasing use or abstinence).

Course Learning Outcomes

  • dentify key skills required to begin to change 
  • Examine an individuals current situation regarding substance use disorder 
  • Help a person identify their own goals and objectives for changing behaviours regarding substance misuse 
  • Help a person decide whether harm reduction or abstinence is the best route for change 
  • Help a person begin a programme of abstinence 
  • Help a person begin a programme of harm reduction 
  • Provide guidelines for the monitoring and review process in keeping with an individuals goals for changing behaviour 
  • Outline key resources to assist in the programme of change

How this course will be delivered: This 6-hour interactive course will be delivered VIA ZOOM to a small group of up to 15 learners.
