Understanding the Use of Performance and Image Enhancing Drugs
Aims Of The Course
Aim of the Course: Participants will have a greater knowledge around the types of performance- and image-enhancing drugs that can be used (e.g. anabolic-androgenic steroids, Melanotan II, Ozempic), the populations that may use them, and approaches to working more effectively with people who use these substances.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe various performance and image-enhancing drugs (PIEDs)
- Describe the various populations who might engage in PIED use
- Explain the risks associated with PIED use
- Identify approaches to working with people using PIEDs
- Identify relevant sources of support
Course Eligibility / Relevance
Course Relevance: This course is relevant to anyone working with people who may use drugs or alcohol, including those working in needle exchange services; people working in the fitness industry, including gyms, personal training, and amateur and professional sport; and anyone working with young people.
Course Eligibility: Participants should have a basic knowledge around substance use prior to attending this course.
How this course will be delivered: This 7-hour interactive course will be delivered VIA ZOOM to a small group of up to 15 learners.
