This 3.5-hour interactive course will be delivered VIA ZOOM to a small group of up to 15 learners on one half day.

This informational/interactive session will enhance learners’ knowledge around the use and misuse of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS, also known as “research chemicals” and formerly called “legal highs”), including synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists (“spice”), synthetic cathinones, new synthetic opioids, “street” benzodiazepines, and psychedelic and dissociative NPS.

  • Understand the prevalence of NPS use 
  • Identify types of NPS and their effects 
  • Understand the legal framework for NPS 
  • Identify approaches to working with people using NPS
