Aims Of The Course

safeTALK helps participants become alert to suicide. Suicide-alert people are better prepared to connect persons with thoughts of suicide to life-affirming help

Course Learning Outcomes

  • Notice and respond to situations where suicidal thoughts may be present
  • Recognise that invitations for help are often overlooked
  • Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide
  • Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, KeepSafe
  • Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further suicide-safer help.

Course Eligibility / Relevance

This course is available to anyone working in the statutory or voluntary sector in Northern Ireland. It is relevant to people that want to create a suicide safer community. Although safeTalk is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop—Safe Talk can be learned and used by anyone.

How this course will be delivered: This 3-hour interactive course will be face to at the provided venue.
