This 3-hour interactive course will be delivered VIA ZOOM to a small group of up to 15 learners.

 

Aim of the Course: 

This course will provide a more in-depth understanding of illicit drugs and their effects. It will provide participants with information on relevant policy and practice guidance, harm reduction approaches, and how to signpost clients to supports. Participants should already have a basic knowledge of drugs and alcohol before completing this course.

 

Course Learning Outcomes: 

  • Understand the prevalence of illicit drug use in Northern Ireland 
  • Identify types of drugs used/their effects 
  • Understand the legal framework for illicit drugs 
  • Identify the levels of harm for the user associated with drug misuse 
  • Understand the evidence/guidance regarding treatment 
  • Identify local services
